A Little About Me:
I began my teaching career in Belton ISD at Taylor Elementary as a 2nd grade teacher. After my husband and I moved to Gatesville, I began teaching at the Elementary school as a 2nd grade teacher. I taught 2nd grade for 3 years, then I moved to 3rd grade for 5 years. I absolutely loved working with the Elementary students and staff, but knew my calling as a teacher was to focus my efforts on our ELL population. In 2014 I changed positions and began teaching ESL classes. This is my 4th year to teach ESL to an amazing group of students in 2nd through 12th grades. I absolutely love my job and helping our English Language Learners become proficient in the English Language.
What is ESL Class:
ESL class is a place where English Language Learners get a chance to practice listening, speaking, reading and writing in English. My aim is to help students succeed in their classroom by paralleling their classroom curriculum. I use strategies such as adding pictures to content vocabulary and journal writing to further scaffold the student's learning. I am excited to see the growth of all my ELLs this year.
One language sets you in a corridor for life.
Two languages open every door along the way.
